The Friends of the Bradford Memorial Library celebrated Emma Miller at a special luncheon on Friday afternoon.

For 106 years the Elks Lodge has celebrated June 14 as Flag Day. The Grand Lodge of the Order of Elks designated the day in 1907 and adopted mandatory observance of the occasion by every lodge in 1911.

The search for Butler Community College’s next president continued Friday as finalist Dr. Charlotte Hatfield toured Butler’s campuses and met with community members and Butler employees.

It was an evening all about survivors, caregivers and those still fighting the fight at the El Dorado Relay For Life Friday evening.

Every year, the El Dorado Relay For Life choses an honorary survivor to speak during the survivor and caregiver reception held prior to the Relay.
This year, Julie Clements was chosen as honorary survivor.

The annual Flag Day ceremony at Forest Park featured a concert by the El Dorado Municipal Band and an address from Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet.

MSgt. Ralph L. Lilley, Jr. retired from the Kansas Air National Guard after 28 years on June 8.

Chad Schuetz will be joining the staff at Skelly Elementary School this coming school year.
