Fire Department responds to house fire

The number of house fires in El Dorado this summer continues to rise with a house fire this afternoon at a single family dwelling.

The El Dorado Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 300 block of West Kansas at about 1:42 p.m., according to Capt. Ricke Whiteside.

The owner was home when the fire started, but was not injured.

This makes five to six house fires this summer, but there isn't any commonality among them.

"We've had everything from a child playing with a lighter to a propane leak on the propane tank," Whiteside said.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation, according to Whiteside.
