OBITUARY - John A. Meyer

John A. Meyer, 76, a retired banker living in Olathe, Kan., passed away on Aug. 22, 2012. A visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 21155 College Blvd Olathe. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. A private family burial will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery. John was born Dec. 25, 1935 in Jamestown, Mo. He was the son of Harry and Alma Meyer. He is survived by his wife Joyce of the home. He leaves behind sons, Scott (Dianne) Meyer and Jeff (Gina) Meyer; daughter, Stacy (Ray) Joslyn; grandchildren, Erica (Nic) Roberts, Paden Meyer, Erin Meyer, Kaytlan Meyer, Emily Meyer, Johnna Joslyn and Garrett Meyer; and siblings, Herry Meyer, Charlotte Medley and Carmen Layman. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married his wife Joyce Coester in 1960. He was an involved member of many civic clubs, Rotary, Kansas Calvary, Lions Club to name a few. He was also a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #370 of Overland Park, and Sons of the American Revolution Delaware Chapter.
