  • On Sept. 28, the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Foundation will host its Fire and Ice ball. This gala event will be held at the Hubbard Welcome Center at Butler Community College, beginning with cocktails at 6 p.m.

"It will be the signature fundraising event for the Foundation," said Director of Development Mary Luebbert. "This year the theme is Fire and Ice. There will be a different theme every year."

At last year's inaugural ball, the theme was Mystic Masquerade.

Money raised from this elegant and fun-filled evening will benefit the Foundation, whose mission is to generate philanthropic and community support to the hospital in order to help provide compassionate, professional healthcare to the people of El Dorado and surrounding communities.

A live band, The Exceptions, will provide entertainment during the evening. There will be a Mongolian barbecue-themed meal that will include a flaming dessert.

"It's about the party and hanging out with people you know," said Luebbert. "We just want people to enjoy themselves."

Live and silent auctions will also be held during the course of the evening.

Among the projects the Foundation has funded for the hospital in the last five years are vaccines for the annual free flu shot clinics, the introduction of a breast feeding educator in the Birth Center, car beds and car seats for newborns, ceiling lifts in the newly remodeled patient rooms, training and education for palliative care and end-of-life care, a specialized recumbent trainer and a Wii Fit for the Rehabilitation Department, education for diabetes educators and training that prepared SBA for becoming an accredited chest pain center. Additionally, the Foundation funded the on-site pain management training for hospital staff that will take place this month.

"Please join us as we celebrate the gift of providing compassionate, professional healthcare to our friends and neighbors," said Luebbert.

For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 316-321-8741 or email mluebbert@sbamn.org. There are approximately 40 tickets remaining. Single tickets can be purchased for $75 and a table for eight can be purchased for $600. Sponsorship opportunities are also still available.
