  • In July, the Butler County Commissioners received bids for banking services from five banks.

During Tuesday's meeting, the commissioners made the selection of Intrust Bank official.

Finance Director Brandon Kauffman discussed the new contract with the commissioners.

"There are a number of documents today to review," he said.

These documents included information about what types of securities Intrust will hold on the county's behalf, online banking, fraud protection and a repurchase agreement.

The commissioners approved the agreements with Intrust by a vote of 4-0. Commissioner Bruce Harris was not present.

After approving the agreements as the Board of County Commissioners, the meeting was recessed so the commissioners could reconvene as the Public Building Commission.

"The Public Building Commission (PBC) is technically different than the (county) commission although the commission sits on the board," said County Administrator Will Johnson. "The only purpose of the PBC is to issue bonds."

The PBC can only issue revenue bonds, not general obligation bonds. The banking agreements with Intrust were also approved by the commissioners as the PBC.

    In other business, the commissioners:

    • approved contracts for the Whitewater River bridge replacement project on Thunder Road west of Augusta.

    • approved contracts for the asphalt surfacing project on SW Santa Fe Lake Road between SW 210th and US 400.

    • approved the renewal of a KDHE grant for cathode ray tube management through the county's E-waste collection program.

    • approved separate agreements with professional engineering consultants to perform materials testing work related to the NW 30th/NW Butler Road intersection reconstruction project related to the west branch Whitewater River bridge replacement project on NW 50th.

    • approved separate proposals to KDOT for Butler County to provide construction engineering services related to the NW 30th/NW Butler Road intersection reconstruction project and related to the west branch Whitewater River bridge replacement project on NW 50th.

    • held a work session to discuss the launch of the county's new Web site, which will take place Friday.
