Three-time Olympian and Wichita native Jim Ryun will be in El Dorado this Sunday evening.
Ryun and his wife, Anne, will speak during the Faith and Family Night at the BG Prod-
ucts Veterans Stadium. Former Butler Community College football coach Brian McNeely will also speak at the event, which begins at 4 p.m. The idea for the Faith and Family event started with Kathy Martin, an El Dorado resident and community leader.
“We wanted to showcase the new stadium, and bring friends and families together for one special day,” she said. “And, after more than 80 years, it seems right to say goodbye to Galen Blackmore Stadium in a special way.”
The event is free and open to the public, will start at 3 p.m. with a 2-Mile Family Fun Run. The run will begin at the old stadium and participants will run or walk to the new stadium, where they will be greeted by Ryun. The Faith and Family activities at the stadium will also include a concert by Road 23, and an appearance by Ernest Alexander. The event will conclude at 7 p.m.
