  • “You Can’t Take It With You” will be coming to the stage of Butler Community College beginning this evening.
    The theatre department will present the production, which first opened in New York in December of 1936. It depicts a “delightfully eccentric family,” and ran for 837 performances on Broadway. The 1938 film won an Academy Award for Best Picture.
    The story tells of the humorous encounter between a conservative family and the crazy household of Grandpa Martin Vanderhof. Grandpa’s family amuse with their antics and inspire with their pursuit of happiness.
    The cast includes Stacy Farthing as Penelope Sycamore, Grace Burks as Essie, Kelsey Clark as Rheba, Jordan Dusenbury as Paul Sycamore, Logan Wohlford as Mr. De Pinna, Cameron Ward as Ed, Javonte Randolph as Donald, Torin Priddle as Martin Vanderhof, Sydney Potvin as Alice, Daniel Guiltner as Henderson, Brandon Hespe as Tony Kirby, Stewart Cooley as Boris Kolenkhov, Melanie Calvery as Gay Wellington, Alex Rosell as Mr. Kirby, Valerie Gray as Mrs. Kirby, Maylea Bauers as Olga, and Erwin Navarijo, TJ La Violete and Mike Dodson as The “J” Men.
    The technical crew includes Sara Clapham, Christine Siemon, Darren Adwell, Luke Andrews, James Hays, Gabe Higgins, Adam Kriwiel, Lindsey Pegg, Brock Peniston, Arthur Reese, Andrea Tate, Aaron Schoenhofer and Robert Unruh.
    The production staff includes: Director Bob Peterson, Set and Light Design by Bernie Wonsetler, Stage Manager Erwin Navarijo, Rehearsal Translator Grace Burks, Lightboard by Arthur Reese, Soundboard by Darren Adwell and Deck Crew of Gabe Higgins , James Hays and Robert Unruh.
    Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday, with a 3 p.m. matinee on Saturday, all held in the college theatre. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children. Call the box office at 322-3262 for reservations.
