The Cats cross country teams competed in their home meet on Tuesday at Wartick Farms.
The runners were faced with tough conditions due to dust and the stillness of the wind.
It made it difficult for runners to breathe and get wind with the temperature in the mid-80s.
“It is mind-boggling to a coach to have some runners PR when other runners not do as well in the same race with the same racing conditions,” said Cats coach Les Limon.
The following runners PR’ed at the Cats Invitational: Dylan Brown, BreAnna Simmons, McKenna Stewart, Timothy Kemboi, Lexi Bias and Jolie Howland.
The Cats had several medal winners with Jaden McAdoo, 11th place; Grace Myers, 4th place; Timothy Kemboi, 7th place; Lexi Bias, 13th place; and Jolie Howland, 2nd place.
“It is also comforting to know that what we are doing in practice is benefiting some runners to get faster,” said Limon.
For the second consecutive race, 8th grader Jolie Howland had a top 2 finish.
“Jolie ran an exciting race, getting beat at the finish line by .53 of a second. This is after leading the whole race,” said Limon.
The Cats cross country season is coming to a close with their league meet at Mulvane on Monday, Oct. 8.
