Thunderbirds drop host El Dorado to open Lady Cat Classic

The Lady Circle Thunderbirds went head to head with tournament host the El Dorado Lady Wildcats and earned an opening round victory over the Wildcats in a 42-31 tilt.
The Thunderbirds started with an early advantage over the Wildcats not allowing a basket to El Dorado in the first quarter to lead 6-0.
Circle had its best quarter offensively for the the game in the secondb scoring 19 points and taking a 25-6 lead over the host Cats into the locker room at halftime.
The Wildcats were down in the game but not out and came out in the third quarter and outscored Circle 11-9. But the Thunderbirds still led El Dorado 34-17 with 8 minutes to play in the contest.
El Dorado came out with a full court press defense in the fourth pressuring the Thunderbirds all the way into their front court.
The Wildcats press worked creating back court violations and 10-second violations leading to Thunderbird turnovers.
The Wildcats would cut the defecit as close to 8 points in the fourth but unfourtanetly for El Dorado it was too little too late.
El Dorado outscored Circle 14-8 in the final frame to pull the game to 42-31 at the final buzzer.
The Thunderbirds were led offensively by Jamie Wright with 14 points going 4-4 from the free throw line.
Katie Frankenberry had 9 points and one three-point make. Jacy Gibbs and Allysa Kirkham each had 5 points going a combined 5-6 from the charity stripe.
Circle was 14-18 shooting free throws.
For El Dorado, Hannah Helferich led with 13 point and went 5-7 from the line.
Kalyn Beel and Andrea Valadez each had 5 points apiece, Beel was 5-8 from the line and Valadez had a three-point conversion.
