El Dorado, Kan. -

Nearly 90 youth gathered at the YMCA Saturday evening despite the cold temperatures for the monthly Kids Night Out.

This month’s theme was Polar Express and they were invited to wear their pajamas to the event.

Kids were split up into four groups to swim, do a craft, have snacks and play a game in the gym.

Aries Self was looking forward to the opportunity to go swimming that evening, while Brady Thompson was enjoying making a cereal necklace.

Others enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate and cookies before heading on to other activities.

Kaylee Yordy said her favorite thing that evening had been playing Duck, Duck, Goose.

Others enjoyed a unique game of dodge ball. Rather than dodging balls, they were dodging socks.

The monthly event, held the second Saturday of every month throughout the year, is something many attend regularly.

“I come every month,” Brooklyn Motter said.
