Since 1989, Partners in Education (PIE) has been awarding grant money to USD 490 schools.

In all, $6,119.67 was awarded, with 14 of the 19 grants submitted being funded.

“PIE is very grateful for the generous gifts from citizens of El Dorado which make it possible  to assist our dedicated teachers with programs for our students,” said Judy Smith, PIE development director.

The Grants to Teachers Program receives the largest amount of funding from PIE. Annually, 50 to 60 teachers receive grants, which means hundreds of students benefit from the materials purchased by their teachers.

PIE also gives scholarships to graduates, as well as grants and other awards to students.

Since 1989, PIE has awarded $272,928 in grants, scholarships and awards.

With other educational grants being awarded as well, the total amount of money given by PIE since its inception is $409,211.

Money awarded by PIE comes from earnings from endowed funds, donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations and by fundraising events. Annual PIE events include Exercise for Education in the spring and the 5K Run/1 Mile Walk in the fall.
