Thirty-three girls strolled across the stage, answered questions and showed off their western wear during the first Miss Frontier Pageant Thursday evening.
Girls competed in five divisions – Princess, Jr. Pre Teen, Pre-Teen, Jr. Teen and Miss.
The pageant started out with the girls all performing the "Bomshel Stomp," after which they each introduced themselves.
After a short break, the girls modeled their western wear, during which they were judged on poise and presentation. In addition, each girl was asked an age appropriate question by emcee Jeremy Sundgren.
Judges for the event were Danny Jimenez, a salon owner and stylist from Wichita; Betty Corbin, owner of Corbin Investments and the Boot Scootin' Barn; and Rachel Kelderman, Miss NFPB.
They were assisted by Erika Enstrom, Miss Kansas International 2010; Kelsey Phillips, Miss Kansas Teen International 2010; and Hannah Lemen, Jr. Miss Kansas International.
Once the scores had been tallied, the girls returned to the stage, nervously awaiting the announcement of the winners.
First the winner of the Miss Photogenic Award was announced. Gracie Ann Beard received this honor.
They then moved on to the winners in each division.
In the Princess Division, the second runner up was Laynie Glaves of El Dorado, daughter of Jeff and Janell Glaves. Second runner up went to Madison Yordy of El Dorado, daughter of Beth Carther. The winner was Gracie Ann Beard of Wichita, daughter of Christy Beard.
In the Jr. Pre Teen Division, Kealy Wilson of El Dorado, daughter of Chris and Angie Wilson, received the second runner up medal. Kaylee Yordy of El Doardo, daughter of Beth Carther, was named second runner up, and the crown went to Destiny Lawrence of El Dorado, daughter of Patricia Gartina nd Scott Lawrence.
In the Pre-Teen Division second runner up went to Kaitlyn Schulte of El Dorado, daughter of Jennifer McAllister, and first runner up went to Krystal Mullin of Towanda, daughter of Russell and Shirley Mullin. The winner was Ashley Stringfellow of Wichita, daughter of Ryan and Shonna Stringfellow.
In the Jr. Teen Division, first runner up went to Sierra Bonn of El Dorado, daughter of Deanna Bonn, and Olivia Wallace of Whitewater, daughter of Mike and Shayla Wallace, was crowned as queen.
In the Miss Division, Stephanie McCall of Valley Center was named second runner up and first runner up went to Jerica Alvarez of El Dorado, daughter of Ron and Tonda Alvarez. Naomi Aranda of El Dorado was crowned queen.
Following the pageant, attendees enjoyed a free ice cream social sponsored by Freddy's Frozen Custard.
