El Dorado, Kan. -

Jenny and Jacob Dutton and their daughter Haley have been adjusting to their new, larger family.

Jenny gave birth to their triplets Feb. 18, doubling their family’s size.

Skylar was born at 12:18 p.m., then came her identical twin, Taylor at 12:19, followed by Katelyn at 12:20. Skylar and Katelyn weighed three pounds 15 ounces and Taylor weighed four pounds seven ounces.

After nine days in the hospital, it was time for them to go home.

After about a month of being at home, the family is still adjusting to the change, although they are enjoying every minute of it.

“It’s different, but they’re really good babies,” Jenny said. “You couldn’t ask for better babies.”

Other than eating every four hours, the little ones, all girls, spend most of the time sleeping.

Of course, the feeding takes about 1 1/2 hours if it is done by one person.

“I think it’s easier than I thought it would be,” Jenny said.

Jenny has had some extra help because Jacob has been able to stay home for the first month to help care for the girls since he owns his own business. but with spring coming, it’s about time for Jacob to head back to work with his lawn and landscaping business.

“It was nice to have him home for the first month,” Jenny said. “With him going back to work, I’m trying to figure out how to do this by myself.”

She has mastered feeding all three at one time, by holding one bottle in one hand and two in the other.

The biggest challenge for Jenny and Jacob is remembering to take care of themselves.
“Remembering to eat,” Jenny said of the challenges. “Finding time to actually sit down and take care of yourself.”

She had to quit her job to stay home and take care of the triplets and Haley, which has been a change for her.

“I can’t just leave the house whenever I did when I just had her (Haley),” she said. “I have to find a babysitter to go grocery shopping.”

The Duttons are in the group of one-in-8,000 pregnancies that have natural triplets.
“This is a miracle,” Jenny said. I just love having triplets. I could just look at them all day long.”

She also is thankful they were so healthy.

Haley, who will be 3 next month, enjoys helping feed her new little sisters, but she’s really looking forward to when they get a little older so she can play dress-up with them.

The Duttons also have received a lot of help, for which they are grateful.

In addition to just starting his own business, the Duttons also had to move into a larger house, which they did Oct. 30.

“We’ve gotten quite a bit of help from friends and family,” Jacob said. “We’ve got a lot of financial help from people who don’t know us.”

“We are very appreciative of all the help we’ve gotten,” Jenny added.

Although the three girls go through 18 to 20 diapers a day, they have not had to buy and yet between the donations and all of the diapers Jenny got at her baby shower.
The family is continuing to receive help.
