Daniel Edwin Pape and Lorene Lucille (Coble) Pape of rural Olpe, Kan., were married at the Greenwood County Courthouse in Eureka on Dec. 12, 1944.
Daniel farmed in the Climax and Severy, Kan. area, worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Climax, Flint Engineering and Construction in El Dorado, Hughes Construction in Eureka, Custom Forms and Associates in Neodesha, as a private construction contractor in Neodesha and as a rancher in Olpe.
Dan and Lorene have four children: Jim and Leta Arlene Blevins of Humansville, Mo., Larry Daniel and Anita Pape of Wellington, David and Diana Sue Gile of Morgantown, W.V., and Virgil Linn Pape of Olpe.
Dan and Lorene have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Daniel Pape’s ancestors arrived in the Flint Hills area more than 130 years ago by the Santa Fe Trail and started one of the first German settlements living among the Indians in the Alta Vista area along Chalk Road.
