McKayla Dianne Miller of Olathe, Kan. and Scott Kendall Haskins, also of Olathe, were united in marriage on July 25, 2009 at Rosie's Cabin in Uniontown, Kan.
Pastor Gerry Sharp of the First United Methodist Church of Chanute, Kan. officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Rick and Shelly Lauber of Iola, Kan. and Robert and Janet Miller of Owasso, Okla. Scott is the son of Bob and Teresa Haskins of Chanute and the late Rebecca Haskins.
Grandparents of the couple are Louis and Verla Jackson of El Dorado, James and Vera Miller of El Reno, Okla., Veleta Sellars of Augusta and Twyla Roller of Yates Center, Kan.
The bride selected a strapless ivory gown trimmed with rhinestones and cascading lace meeting the souffle draping on the waist. Asymmetrically appliqued lace adorned the skirt fashioned a corset tie back and chapel length train.
The maid of honor was Alicia Haselby of Overland Park, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kiesha Richenburg of St. Paul, Kan., sister of the bride, Jamey Herbert of Gardner, Kan., friend of the bride, Dette Longman of Westminster, Colo., cousin of the bride, Kim Peppmeier of Edmond, Okla., friend of the bride, Natalie Dummermuth of Lenexa, friend of the bride and Lori Cavalcanti of Spring Hill, Tenn., sister of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Lauren Richenburg of St. Paul, niece of the bride. Flower girls were Emily Richenburg of St. Paul, niece of the bride, and Megan Richenburg of St. Paul, niece of the bride. The bride's personal attendant was Teresa Barnes of Gardner.
Best man was David Dummermuth of Lenexa, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Cameron Miller of Olathe, brother of the bride, Andy Hineman of Scott City, Kan., friend of the groom, Mark Adams of Olathe, friend of the groom, Nate Bukaty of Overland Park, friend of the groom, Leroi Cochran of Houston, Texas, friend of the groom, and Walker Cavalcanti of Spring Hill, Tenn., brother-in-law of the groom. Ringbearers were Robert Cavalcanti of Spring Hill, nephew of the groom, and Michael Richenburg of St. Paul, nephew of the bride.
Ushers were Derek Dummermuth of Olathe, friend of the groom, and Chad Collette of Omaha, Neb., friend of the groom.
Special guests attending from El Dorado included great aunts of the bride, In addition to the bride's grandparents, Louis & Verla Jackson, Jr., special guests attending from El Dorado included her Uncle, Casey Jackson, great aunts of the bride, Helen Evans and Phyllis Jackson, cousin Fredia Jackson and friends Kenneth and Pat Phillips. At the reception, Kenneth and Pat won the wedding dance contest for being wed 61 years. Grandparents Louis and Verla Jackson followed a close second as they were married just two months shy of 61 years at the time of the wedding.
McKayla is a 2002 graduate of Iola High School, a 2005 graduate of Pittsburg State University and a 2007 graduate of Baker University. She is employed as a 3rd grade teacher in the Gardner Edgerton School District. She is currently working toward a reading specialist degree at the University of Kansas.
Scott is a 1994 graduate of Derby High School and a 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas. He is an aviation systems engineer at Garmin.
The couple honeymooned in Antigua and reside in Olathe.
