BG Products took the next step in expanding its operations in El Dorado.

Their request for a special use permit came before the El Dorado City Commission Tuesday evening.

"BG Products is moving its manufacturing production from Wichita to El Dorado and as part of that are acquiring some property in the El Dorado Industrial Park and need to rezone it," said Ray Connell, general council for BG Products.

The permit will allow petroleum and coal products production on the property commonly referred to as the Pierpoint property.

The Planning Commission also gave their approval of the zone change at their Dec. 27 meeting, and staff was in favor of the change.

Commissioner Steve Pershall made a motion to approve the ordinance allowing for the special use permit, which was approved 4-0. Mayor Tom McKibban was absent.
