A group of El Dorado Middle School students braved the cool weather Saturday to wash a number of dogs.
The EMS KAY Club was holding a dog wash to raise money for the El Dorado Animal Shelter.
The students were having fun with the event.
“The animals are fun,” said Emma Newton, eighth grader. “We wanted to something unique that’s not a car wash.”
“Everybody does car washes,” eighth grader Rachel Hughes agreed.
Of course there were some challenges, like the fact they wouldn’t have any dogs for a while, then all of a sudden several would show up.
Then there was simply the issue of the bath for some.
“They’re scared of the water,” said Tara Jurgensen, eight grader.
Despite the struggles, the students were happy to be doing it.
“It’s worth it,” Newton said. “The money is going to help other animals.”
In addition to raising money through dog washes, some people were making donations to the club as well.
The KAY Club does several fundraisers throughout the year.
