BOE meeting to include special ed workshop

El Dorado, Kan. - USD 490's Board of Education is meeting Monday night at 5:30 p.m., beginning with a work session where Greg Buster will present a review of special education services.
The regular meeting will begin at 6:30 with an executive session to discuss personnel, students and negotiations.
The meeting will reconvene to the public at 7 p.m. The board plans to discuss student and faculty handbooks and hear a building report from Gary Melcher.
The last of the three involved entities to meet since the Stadium Steering Committee recommended using PKHLS Architects for the preliminary feasibility study, the BOE will discuss approving the firm, following approval by the City of El Dorado and Butler Community College.
The BOE will talk about an AdvanceED district accreditation proposal. According to its Web site, "AdvancED is the unified organization of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), and National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE). AdvancED is dedicated to advancing excellence in education through accreditation, research, and professional services."
Board members will also hear about a Parents As Teachers Grant and an El Dorado Middle School Tennis proposal.
