A stolen car was pulled out of the El Dorado Lake at the rock quarry Thursday afternoon.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the dive team from the Augusta Police Department and Butler County Rescue Squad, responded to a call of a car in the lake, according to Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy.

“It was called in by an individual that was out at the lake at the rock quarry fishing,” Murphy said. “He told us that one of those boulders in the parking lot had been shoved out of the way and there were tired tracks into the lake.”

There also was an oil slick coming up through the water.

At about 2 p.m. Thursday, the rescue squad used a sonar scan to locate the car and the Augusta divers went down to check it out. No one was found in the car.

The Chrysler Sebring was stolen out of Wichita last night. Those responding were on the scene about two hours.
