Join El Dorado law enforcement officers at Double Ds in El Dorado as they “serve” and protect.

The annual Tip-A-Cop will be held from 5 p.m. to close on Friday. Come support local officers as they “serve” dinner and hope for big tips. All proceeds from tips will be donated to Special Olympics Kansas.

Tip-A-Cop is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) campaign. LETR, which includes an international series of relay runs and special events like Tip-A-Cop, is presented by more than 85,000 law enforcement officers worldwide to help raise money and public awareness for Special Olympics.

LETR is the largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics through which funds raised go directly to local programs in states or countries where the funds are generated.

“On behalf of Special Olympics Kansas, we would like to thank local law enforcement and Double Ds for their incredible support," said Luke Schulte, director of special events. “Efforts like these make it possible for us to continue to provide high-quality sports training programs and competitions free of charge to all Special Olympics athletes."

Special Olympics is an international year-round program of sports training, education and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. All proceeds benefit the 5,634 Special Olympics Kansas athletes by providing medals and ribbons, meals for athletes, training for coaches and equipment. For more information, visit www.ksso.org.

Double Ds is located at 2529 W. Central. For more information, visit www.kansastorchrun.org or call 913-236-9290.
