At 1:43 p.m. Thursday Butler County Sheriff Officers were dispatched to Satchel Creek Road and U.S. Highway 54 east of El Dorado to a motor vehicle accident involving a semi and passenger car, according to Sheriff Craig Murphy.

Upon arrival, deputies found the passenger car facing east in the westbound lane and the semi truck was in the ditch on the north side of 54.

The driver of the passenger car, 63-year-old Cathleen Wilson of rural El Dorado, was pinned and had to be extricated by the Butler County Rescue Squad. The driver was transported in critical condition to St. Francis Hospital in Wichita by Butler County EMS. The semi truck driver was not injured.

Murphy said  the westbound passenger car was in the eastbound lane at the time of the head-on crash.
There was a heavy rain in progress at the time of the crash with blinding visibility for a moving vehicle.
It is believed the driver of the passenger car was unable to distinguish the proper lane due to the heavy rain.

Murphy said officers have learned Wilson has been upgraded to serious condition.

Both drivers were alone in their respective vehicles.
