El Dorado, Kan. - Two motorcycle accidents occurred in nearly the same spot one day after another, leaving one driver injured and killing another.
The first accident occurred at around 10 p.m. Wednesday on old K-254 just west of Ohio Street. Butler County Deputies, EMS, Fire and Rescue and Towanda Police responded to the call.
“The responding units found a motorcycle that had flipped,” said Undersheriff Roy Raney. “They searched the field and found one occupant, who was the single operator.”
That driver was Dwayne E. Cool of El Dorado. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the report, weather was a possibility in the accident.
A second motorcycle accident occurred at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, also on old K-254 just west of Towanda. Butler County Sheriff’s officers and EMS First Responders were called to the accident which involved a deer.
According to Raney, the 2005 Triumph Motorcycle was westbound on a portion of the road curving south and a deer had apparently entered the roadway and it resulted in a collision.
“The driver was transported to Wesley as code red (life threatening), suffering from head injury among others,” he said.
The driver’s name has not yet been released.
