El Dorado, Kan. -

A body found Friday afternoon in the El Dorado Lake is that of a black male.

The body was found by a fisherman just north of the bridge, according to Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy.

The fisherman had come out and unloaded at the ramp near there and saw what he thought was a piece of metal in the water.

“So he took a closer look and realized, hey that's a body, and then called us,”?Murphy said.

The sheriff's office received that call around 1:15 p.m.

They found a body, thought to be in his late 20s to early 30s. He is 5-feet 10-inches and 190-plus pounds.

He was wearing a black t-shirt with “Got That Doughboy” across the front. Murphy described the t-shirt design as a big square with white lettering in it and there is money in the picture also.

The man also possibly had an earring in his left ear and was possibly wearing black converse tennis shoes.

They aren't sure how long the body has been in the water.

“We're guessing and I'm going to tell you that I don't think it's been in that long and when I say that long I don't mean a month or something like that,” he said.

Officials have several theories as to what could have happened.

“We don't know what the cause of death is,” Murphy said. “When we're trying to determine that, we're doing it now rather than saying ‘oh, maybe we should have looked at that.'”

Part of that investigation included bringing in divers from Augusta to see if there was anything in the water that may help them out.

They body was removed early Friday evening and they were diagramming the scene yesterday evening.

In addition, they called out Community Emergency Response Team to search the roadways and other areas for any possible evidence.

The sheriff is asking for help.

“I want to ask for the public's help,” he said of identifying the individual.

They did have one phone call regarding a missing person and investigators were talking to that individual last night.

“We're still asking the public if they haven't seen a brother, father, uncle to please call Butler County 911,” he said.
