Four homes will open their doors to the community Saturday offering holiday cheer and festivities during the annual Susan B. Allen Holiday House Tour.

One home will offer a “Woodland Christmas at Sweet Tree North.”

Sue and Dallas Flowers have brought the outdoors into their home.

The committee that chose the homes contacted Sue right after the first of the year and they decided to take part in the tour.

Sue said she wanted to give back to the community, so she decided to participate.
They started planning for the home tour later that month. A committee, which Billee Douglass chairs, began gathering ideas for the home.

“There were projects people were working on throughout the year,” Douglass, who originated the tour 30 years ago, said. “We brought it all together this week and it will be done tomorrow.”

During the tour, which usually draws more than 1,000 visitors, people will be in various parts of the home telling about the house, decorations and the family.

One focal point will be the fireplace in the living room. There are also unique features throughout the house reflecting their love of art, sports and family.

Businesses also donated some of the decorations that will be in the homes.

Douglass has enjoyed being on the committee because of “seeing the transformation of home from every day use to festivities.”

“It was exciting to see them come in and place what they’ve been working on,” Sue added.

Their home is located at 635 E. Katie Ct.

The other homes are those of Elizabeth Heinrich, 401 W. Pine Ave; Chris and Linda Jolly, 2100 Pico Ct.; and Scott and Susan McEwen, 330 Meadow Rd.

The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $7 in advance or $8 at the door and may be purchased from the SBA Gift Shop or at any of the homes on the tour.
Proceeds will support the SBA Medical Surgical Department Sleep Chairs.
