Butler County Sheriff and El Dorado Police officers responded to a call of an unattended death Tuesday east of El Dorado.
The call came in at 12:08 p.m. from personnel at the Blue Spruce Motel, located on Highway 54 when they found the body of Kayla M. McDonald, 26, of El Dorado.
“She checked in about 10 a.m. yesterday and was dropped of by a local taxi service in El Dorado,” said Butler County Undersheriff Kelly Herzet.
McDonald had not checked out at noon and the owner was checking on her welfare when he found her on the floor of the room.
EMS was called, but she was pronounced dead.
Officers were taking photographs and collecting evidence from the scene Tuesday afternoon.
“At this point nothing really looks suspicious,” Herzet said.
Sheriff Craig Murphy said the cause of death is unknown at this time, but it does not appear foul play was involved and the case is still under investigation.
The woman had been reported missing Monday by a friend.
