The Butler County 4-H Horticulture Judging Teams competed at the state contest on Aug. 21.  

One hundred eighteen youth participated in the competition, which was held at Throckmorton Hall on the K-State campus.  

Senior team members were: Lucas Hadley, Joe Pherigo and Faith Hadley.  

Intermediate team members were: Renata Goossen, Meghan Nipper and Libby Moore.  

Their coach was Larry Crouse, Butler County Horticulture agent.  

At the contest, each team member competed in three areas which included: a written exam, plant identification and quality judging.  

At the awards ceremony Hadley was recognized for his eighth place finish in the individual senior division, while the senior team  of Hadley Pherigo and Hadley combined to take home fourth place honors.
