The El Dorado City Commission received an update on the city’s first fall clean-up held in a few years.

While not a full clean-up day like in the spring, citizens had the opportunity to bring items to the public works building Friday and Saturday.

They saw 114 vehicles those two days and received 97 pieces of e-waste, more than 100 tires and three loads of metal.

“We had lots of good positive comments,” said Brad Meyer, assistant public works director. “I think we had a fairly good turnout.”

The commission also discussed the lease agreement with the American Legion for the golf course. Mayor Tom McKibban said he had been asked about how the city could enter into such an agreement in executive session.

Llewellyn said they had the right through the state of Kansas to discuss such agreements in executive session, but they did come back into open session to vote on it.

Llewellyn also pointed out one other benefit of the agreement in that it will let them deal with some erosion issues on that property on the creek that runs through there.

One other item brought up was the auction of the Prairie Port items recently.

The city purchased 12 of their 20-foot bleachers to have for community events.
