The Community Foundation of Greater Butler County has successfully hired a new leader after a thoughtful executive search.
Angie Baur is the new president/CEO of Butler County’s Community Foundation, a non-profit, public charity.
Baur comes to Butler County with 18 years of non-profit experience. She has extensive knowledge which includes hands-on fundraising, grant writing and grant management experiences; while also possessing strong leadership attributes from her executive positions at the Mental Health Association, 2-1-1 Orange County and South Coast YMCA. Her experiences and training bring with her a holistic, community minded perspective that will take the Foundation to an ever greater presence in Butler County.
The Community Foundation of Greater Butler County is dedicated to assisting donors in building a permanent pool of assets for the people, organizations and causes in Butler County. With over $700,000 in assets the Foundation is clearly on the map.
“With new leadership, an active board and a vision for a greater Butler County this asset pool is poised to grow markedly by 2020,” said Joel Pile, chair of the Board.
In Kansas there is an estimated $66 billion of wealth transfer that is expected to occur by 2020, with $1.2 billion in Butler County alone.
Especially during these tough economic times it is important to know and understand not only the short term roles of a Community Foundation but most importantly the long term role – permanent asset management.
In the short term, they engage in special projects like the Tornado Memorial in El Dorado. The Foundation held donated funds while the project evolved. Other permanently, endowed gifts are what ensures a strong future for all in Butler County. Endowed Funds are established for a specific cause or need as a long term investment. A good example is children’s health needs.
“As our Foundation grows, our ability to become a grant making foundation will provide an even greater service to our extensive community needs,” said Baur. “By strengthening our Foundation assets, a portion of earned income will annually be used for grant making. An annual cycle of gifting would ensue and allow the local non-profits serving the very special needs of communities to apply for funding. Our peers across the state are doing it, and we will to!”
