Butler Trustees to hold budget hearing

The Butler Community College Board of Trustees has a regular board meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

This meeting will begin with the college’s legal budget hearing in the Purple Room of the Student Union building.

The regular board meeting will directly follow the adjournment of the hearing.

The board will open the regular meeting with approval of the agenda and recognitions.

Those to be recognized will include Chris Gordon, the 2008 El Dorado Relay for Life
Butler Team; the 2007-2008 volleyball team and coach, Anita Mills, Linda Wapelhorst, Crystal Crank, Nicole Graves, Glenn Lygrisse, Marshall Matthews, Connie Bonfy; the Leadership Butler Class of 2008 selected participants; the 2008 AKCCOP recipients; and the July great Grizzly deeds.

The board meeting will include a student government association report, an operational staff report and a faculty report.

Also an update on the technical education authority will be given by President, Jackie Vietti.

Among the board action items, the approval of YE 2009 insurance will be discussed and the approval of construction manager at reck (CMR) will be considered.

The board’s strategic discussion will include the Butler Pure Learning Power enrollment campaign.

The meeting’s consent agenda will include approval of minutes from the July 8 meeting and the special board meeting on July 23.

Also approval of bills and warrants for July and ratifications of agreement and contracts are planned.

Personnel additions will also be up for approval.

The board will discuss approval of Elissa Mullinix as the new full-time agriculture instructor and approval of Dennis Rittle as the college’s technical advancement director.

The board will consider approval of Jeannie Parscal as the 20-hour instructional technology specialist.

Kevin Li is being considered for the new enterprise system administrator and the board will also discuss acceptance of the resignation of Emily Lockhart from the full-time physical education instructor position.

Handbooks will also be discussed. Approval of the revised student handbook and residence life handbook is on the board’s agenda.

Some supplemental information will also be presented.
