One item on USD 490 Board of Education members’ July agenda was discussion and update of summer maintenance.
Dave Wagner, project manager, presented the board with information on the progress of the district’s various projects.
“They continued working on the high school project despite all the inclement weather,” said Wagner. “They continue to work toward getting that completed.”
The school plans to have beams going up soon and pipe moved.
“Soil modification started on the 26th of June,” said Wagner.
Cold weather is getting closer and the project is progressing.
“The landfill has graciously decreased our cost by half,” said Wagner. “That’s a lot of money with the amount of refuse we’ve had.”
Another project the district has lined up is the transport of the bleachers from the Civic Center parking lot.
The bleachers were donated to the school from the Frontier Western Celebration.
“We’ve got the bleachers to move over here from the Civic Center and we’ll use some gravel to level them out,” said Wagner.
The building also had some recent drainage issues.
“On the west side of the building we’ll try to get a little better drainage,” said Wagner.
“We really need to get that done.”
Also there is a curtain at Skelly that has been stapled due to its age. The district plans to use an extra curtain located at Lincoln in place of it.
The stage door is also in the plans for an update.
Several other projects are in the plan for the district, many of which are planned to be finished by the start of the 2008-09 academic year.
