The USD 490 Board of Education plans to meet Monday for their August regular meeting.
A facilities tour will open at 5:30 p.m. and members are planning to take a brief bus tour to view facilities and a light dinner will be served when they return.
The regular meeting will be called to order at 6:30 p.m.
The members will have roll call then they will go directly into an executive session to discuss personnel and facilities.
The executive session will be followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and then a public hearing on the 2008-09 school budget at 7.
Norm Wilks, director of fiscal services, will review and respond to questions regarding the 2008-09 proposed budget.
The board will also discuss approval of the consent calendar.
The consent calendar will include minutes of the July 14 regular meeting, minutes of the July 29 special meeting, financial reports, credit card reports, middle school activity reports and high school summer school reports.
Recognitions will follow public comment then the board will discuss reports.
Reports will include the El Dorado Inc. report, presented by Dan Ingalls, board member, and Tom Storrer, board member, and a legislative update, to be given by Leon Leachman.
David Wagner will present the board with a report on operations.
The board will also hear reports on fiscal and support services and a report will be presented by the superintendent.
Julie Jensen, director of curriculum, will present the board with a student assessment report.
This presentation is intended to be a review of student assessment data and preliminary Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) status.
Items up for approval during the meeting include the extend high school outcomes, the investment in teacher recruitment statewide image and promotion campaign and the 2008-09 school budget.
The board also plans to review district credit card use and establish authorized use and credit limits and discuss approval of amendments to the negotiated contract.
Another item on the board’s agenda is discussion for approval of the lease agreement between USD 205 Bluestem and USD 490 for Bluestem Elementary Haverhill School building.
The board will also discuss BCSBC recommendations and finally the board will hear
announcements.
