At the March 9 meeting of the Butler Community College Board of Trustees, the 5000 building parking lot was discussed. This parking lot, on the Andover campus, is scheduled to be expanded and paved.

At this point, the project is estimated to cost around $140,000 based on an architect's estimates. However, an exact price for the project won't be known until bids are sent out.

The trustees, who have budgeted $200,000 for the parking lot, voted to send out for bids on the project.

The trustees also discussed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) projects, which include redesigning parts of the Student Union. The funds for these projects would come from the State of Kansas, if Butler's application for the funds is accepted.

The board voted to submit the application to the state.

In other business, the board:

• approved the contract for the Affiliated Clinical Site with Legacy Park.

• approved the contract for the Affiliated Clinical Site with Andover Public Schools.

• approved Jeff Meyer as full-time temporary Anatomy and Physiology Instructor.

• approved Jonathan Penley as full-time Physical Science Instructor.

• approved a contract renewal for Mike Bargen, Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

• approved a contract renewal for Jon Craig, Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach.

• approved a contract renewal for Mike Helmer, Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

• approved a contract renewal for Jerise Freemen, Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.
