The city received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for their Dec. 31, 2006 report.
"Each year we send in for this and for the last 30 years we have received it," said DeeAnne Grunder, finance director.
El Dorado is one of 24 cities in the state to earn this recognition.
"So we're kind of in an exclusive club," said Herb Llewellyn, city manager.
The award is given for the city's comprehensive annual financial report, which includes statistical information, as well as other information. There are a lot of requirements, including being on generally accepted accounting principals GAAP.
Some cities do waive using these principals.
While bond agencies will still bid on cities not using the GAAP, they look more favorably upon those who do, so this does benefit the city.
The city has already submitted their information for the 2007 award.
