The Butler County Commissioners voted to approve a resolution modifying and amending resolution 98-79, which regulates adult entertainment businesses in unincorporated areas of Butler County at its Tuesday meeting.

The new resolution stipulates alcoholic beverages cannot be consumed on the premises of an adult entertainment business and a business owner must apply for a permit to be able to have adult entertainment activities at his or her establishment.

The Commission also held a public hearing regarding the proposed updated solid waste management plan.

County Engineer Darryl Lutz gave a presentation about proposed changes to the plan.

“Every five years we have to update it,” he said.

Proposed changes include improved guidelines for distributing information about waste management, as well as guidelines for collection, transfer, waste reduction and disposal.

The Butler County Landfill receives 45,000 tons of solid waste each year. That number is projected to go up to 50,000 tons in the next 30 years.

The commissioners voted to approve the plan.

In other business, the commission:

• approved a policy establishing health insurance premium policies for county employees. The motion carried with Commissioner Dan Woydziak opposed.

• approved the contract between the Kansas Department of Transportation and Butler County to treat noxious weeds.

• Received and opened bids for noxious weed herbicide. The commission voted to approve purchase of herbicides from the lowest bidder for each product.

• Appointed a new clerk for Spring Township.
