The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will be working additional hours this spring in an effort to combat underage drinking on KDWP properties.
These additional enforcement hours have been made possible through a grant administered by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
KDWP’s Natural Resource Officers will concentrate enforcement efforts on problem areas known or suspected to be used by underage drinkers. These “party spots” will be heavily patrolled during select high use periods.
Persons not of legal age caught consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages will be processed through the judicial system.
Underage drinking can lead to many problems, not only is it illegal for a person under 21 years old to consume or possess alcohol, it can contribute to traffic accidents and health related issues. These are just a few examples of what drinking alcohol can cause. The KDWP reminds people the most important thing to remember is to be responsible when having a group function.
