El Dorado, Kan. -

The meeting of the Towanda Rustlers 4-H club was held on July 13. This month's meeting was also the scheduled club tour.

The tour started at the Fairview Township Hall where the club spruced up the building, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping until it smelled like pine sol.

Then the club headed off to the Crisler's to learn about what their plans for the fair were. The club heard about Ashley's plans for floriculture and were shown her rocket.

Next stop was the Varner's, where we saw Shelby and Tara's bucket calves – Buttons and Bongo.

Then the Rustlers moved on to the Person's where Jenna showed us her pigs and talked about her horse Monty and his success.

Lastly was the Lewellen's where Jacob and Lindsey talked about their Entomology and Photography projects, as well as their calf – Betsy.

Then the club went to the Towanda Library Park to start the meeting. There were 16 members and three leaders present. It was announced that the 21st is the supporter's picnic and it would be appreciated that some would donate dollars to the club for the use of the makings of our club basket. Also announced was that the next meeting would be at the fair – the 28th at about 4:30. At the fair, the club will be working on Sunday night and Wednesday during the live stalk auction.

To finish off the meeting, Matthew Webb talked about his rocket the “flash,” and his sister Anna showed her reserve grand champion ribbon from the fashion revue.
