TOPEKA, KAN. - Veteran's Day 2009 will be a date to remember for a lucky Kansas Lottery player or players. One ticket matched all numbers in the Wednesday, November 11 Powerball drawing, winning a jackpot of $96.6 million!
For security purposes, the Kansas Lottery does not release the city where a ticket is sold, or the Lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket, until the ticket is actually claimed. The south central region of Kansas, where the $96.6 million in last night's drawing was sold, includes these 15 counties: Barber, Barton, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Marion, McPherson, Pratt, Reno, Rice, Sedgwick, Stafford, and Sumner.
The retailer that sold the ticket will receive a $10,000 bonus from the Kansas Lottery for selling the jackpot-winning Powerball ticket.
The winning numbers in the November 11 Powerball drawing were: 08-12-14-22-29 Powerball 22. The Power Play number was 2.
The winner should sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a secure place until presenting it to claim the jackpot. The jackpot winner may want to consult a financial or legal advisor before claiming a prize of this size. In Kansas, players have 365 days from the date of the drawing to claim their winning Powerball tickets.
Powerball jackpot prizes won in Kansas must be claimed at Lottery headquarters at 128 N. Kansas Ave. in Topeka, or at the Lottery's Great Bend office, located at 3007 Tenth St. in Great Bend. If the owner of the ticket has questions before claiming the prize, he or she is encouraged to contact the Kansas Lottery at (785) 296-5700.
