Gary E. DeVore, 69, died July 16, 2010. The celebration of his life willl be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the services in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Gary was born Sept. 4, 1940 in El Dorado, the son of Arthur “Archie” and Catherine DeVore. He lived in Oil Hill through eighth grade and moved to El Dorado. He graduated with the Class of 1958 from the El Dorado High School. During Vietnam he served his country in the United States Navy. For many years he was the lead over the Hydro Presses at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita. In 1961 he was married to Ann McHugh.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was active in the J.C., El Dorado Ambassodors and the El Doraders Car Club. He liked to travel with Ann and ride his motorcycles. He was very active in organizing the Class Reunions and being with all his many friends.
Surviving family include: his wife, Ann of the home; one son, Don and wife Mary of Leoti, Kan.; brother, Jim and wife Susan DeVore of Lawrence; sister, Carolyn DeVore of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-law, Carolyn McHugh of Springfield, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Kent, his parents and his inlaws Ted and Georgia McHugh.
