OBITUARY: Jo-Ann A. Lamb

Jo-Ann A. Lamb, 84, of Nickerson, died Jan. 24, 2012 at her home in Nickerson. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Midland United Church of Christ, rural Sterling, with Revs. Judy Conners and Will Best officiating. Burial will be at Wildmead Cemetery in Nickerson. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.

She was born April 16, 1927 in El Dorado, the daughter of Fred W. and Helen Cassatt Arnall. She was a resident of Nickerson since 1950 and formerly of El Dorado. She graduated from El Dorado High School and El Dorado Junior College. On Dec. 21, 1947 she was married to John C. “Jack” Lamb; he survives. She was a retired funeral director and co-owner of Lamb Funeral Home of Nickerson and former editor of the Nickerson Argosy. She was a member of the former First Christian Church of Nickerson and a member of the Midland United Church of Christ, Sterling, Cameo Club, Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Library, former Girl Scout leader and lifetime member of Eastern Star, all of Nickerson. She also was a member of the KFDA and NFDA.

Survivors include: her husband of the home; sons, John C. (Chuck) Lamb II of Hiline Lake, Alaska, Chris R. Lamb of Nickerson and Daryl J. Lamb of Whitewater; four daughters, Karen A. Lovelock of Nickerson, Karla J. McAllister of Hutchinson, Karie L. Orem of Hutchinson and Karyl K. White of Nickerson; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Chip Lamb; sister, Alice Corley; and great-great-grandson, Tony Martin McAllister.

Memorials may be made to Midland United Church of Christ or Nickerson Library in care of Birzer Funeral Home.
