OBITUARY: Darrell L. Heape

Darrell L. Heape, 84, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Sept. 14, 1925 in Havana, Kan., the son of Walter and Gladys (Wade) Heape. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. On June 1, 1946 he was married to Cleo Delphine Tillotson at Pratt.

He is survived by: his wife, Delphine Heape of El Dorado; a son, Lane Heape of Park City; two daughters, Lori Ahlgrim of Hutchinson and Kristi Sowell of Towanda; two sisters, Delma Thompson of Pratt and Jean Cromer of Belvidere; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vernon Heape; and a sister, Shirley Pepperd.

There is no visitation; the casket will remain closed. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt, with Chaplain Pinkerton presiding. Burial with military honors will be in the Ellenwood Cemetery in Sawyer, Kan.
