Dick J. Lane of Eureka, died on July 28, 2010 at his residence at the age of 81.
He was born on Oct. 25, 1928 in Climax, Kan., the son of Myron and Millie (Smith) Lane. Dick was raised in Climax and graduated from the local school. After his schooling, he worked out west before joining the Air Force serving his country from 1948-1952 working as a flight instructor.
He then moved to El Dorado and working for Skelly, Getty and Texaco oil companies as a pipefitter. Dick retired in 1994 after 42 years of service. After his retirement Dick focused his energy on the family ranch.
In May 1951 he was united in marriage to Myrna Dorsett in Eureka. They made their home in El Dorado before moving back to Eureka in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna of the home; daughters, Debra Dunning of Eureka and Sharon Willig of Copan, Okla.; and two-step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Clarence Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Koup Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to El Dorado Hospice or El Dorado Home Health. Memorials may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045.
