Ruth Scott, 74, of El Dorado, died Wednesday morning at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. The celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. The casket will not be open at the church; friends may call at the funeral home.
Ruth was born Oct. 18, 1935 in Bixby, Okla., the daughter of James M. and Hattie (Berryhill) Higgins. She graduated from the El Dorado High School in the Class of 1953. Shortly after graduation she was married to Lloyd Scott on May 29, 1953. She was a wonderful homemaker and caregiver to so many. Her home was always open to all the kids and family. She had a wonderful garden and always shared with everyone. She never missed a sporting event her son Rick played. She loved to watch baseball, football, basketball and she was an avid bowler. She was a staunch Dallas Cowboy and KU Basketball fan.
Ruth was a member of Tops for 38 years, a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, a multiple gallon blood donor, and helped with the Meals On Wheels Program.
Surviving family include: her husband, Lloyd of the home; one son, Rick and his wife Terri Scott of El Dorado; a granddaughter and her husband, Darcy and Luke Scanlon of El Dorado; two great-grandchildren, Reagan and Grady Scanlon of El Dorado; and one special niece and nephew, Jeanie Alfaro and Frank Williams. She was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Kay Finey, and a brother, LeeRoy Higgins.
Memorials have been established with either the American Red Cross or the Poly Cystic Kidney Foundation. Kirby-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
