Betty Jean Wilson, former Ponca City resident, died late Thursday morning, Feb. 25, 2010 in the Dexter Care Center, Dexter, Kan. She was 82.
Betty was born Dec. 30, 1927 in Oceanside, Calif. She grew up in Douglas, Kan., being raised by her grandparents, Burke and Pearl Lewis.
On Nov. 6, 1943 Betty and Edmond Lee Wilson were married in Douglas. They lived in Butler and Cowley County throughout their married life.
Betty is survived by her children, Allen Lee Wilson of Odessa, Tex., Jerry Ray Wilson of Newkirk, Linda Jean Willard of Burden, Kan. and Velda Joan Smalley of Arkansas City; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her grandparents.
A graveside service has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 in Walnut Valley Memorial Park, Eldorado, Kan. with Pastor Larry Womacks, minister of the DeGraff Community Church of El Dorado officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. The casket will not be opened for public viewing.
