She was preceded in death by her parents and youngest brother, Ronald, of Tucson. She is survived by her beloved husband, Lewis Pilcher of 59 years; four brothers, Duane, Dan, Les and Lenus; five sisters, Roberta, Lila, Neva, Telva and Linda; children, Rhonda (Philip) Davis, Roxie Simmons of Tucson and Robert (Cherie) Pilcher of Latham; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She spent 21 years following her husband around the world while he served in the U.S. Air Force.; from Texas to Japan to the Carolinas to Hawaii and even California, before they retired to Augusta in 1972; moving to Tucson in 1998. She was a homemaker, a school secretary and always at her husband's side in all that they did.
She enjoyed playing games and cards with her family and friends, traveling, flowers, plants and was an avid reader of all kinds of books. Basketball also was one of her passions, as well as collecting elephant figurines. She will be missed by many friends and family.
And so, in her dear husband's words from Lewy to Edy, "This I will remember, when the rest of life is through: the finest thing I've ever done is simply loving you."
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Christian Church in Glasco, Kan. Graveside services will follow the service at Glasco Cemetery. After the services there will be a gathering of friends at the Senior Center in Glasco. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Odyssey Hospice Care at 750 E.
