Floyd Ernest Dimick, 84, of El Dorado, died Wednesday morning, June 3, 2009 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. The celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will have a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Floyd was born Aug. 11, 1924 in Greenwood County near Reece, Kan., the son of  Walter Franklin and Mildred Frances Campbell Dimick. He grew up in Greenwood County and moved to El Dorado in November of 1948  after his marriage to  Margaret Louise Salmans on July 18, 1948.
He was a farmer and contractor. Floyd served his country in the United States Navy in Guam and Okinawa during WWII.  He started Dimick Construction in 1965 in El Dorado.

Mr. Dimick was a faithful member of the First Christian Church and  the American Legion Post. He served as a Cubmaster and Webelos scoutmaster. He loved being a devoted husband and father. He and his wife were members of several  square dance clubs and they traveled all over the United States and met many who had their love of  square dancing.

Surviving family include: his wife, Louise of the home; sons, Fred and wife Janet Dimick of Phoenix, Ariz., Glen and wife Pansy Dimick of Cotter, Ark., Steve and wife Shawn Dimick of Wichita, and Lee and wife Connie Dimick of Lakewood, Colo.; brother, Ramond Dimick of Towanda; sisters, Dorothy Amerine  and Lucille Miles, both of El Dorado; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with either Meals on Wheels or the First Christian Church.
