Wilma Owen, 94, died Saturday at 9:20 a.m. in Colonial Oaks Health Care in Marion, Ind.
She was born Aug. 14, 1915 in Greenwood County, Kan., to John and Cora Belle (Ward) Glendenning, the youngest of 12 children.
She grew up in Virgil, Kan., and graduated from Virgil High School in 1934. She married Loren Owen in 1938 and they moved to Lamont, Kan., living there till 1970 when they moved to El Dorado. Wilma enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life, and she had a day care in her home.
She loved children and she kept up with many of the children and families from her day care. After Loren’s retirement in 1978, they joined the El Dorado Travel Club and made many friends and traveled all over the U.S. and Canada. After Loren died in 1998, Wilma moved to Marion, Ind., to be near her children and grandchildren.
Wilma enjoyed working outside with her flowers and scrapbooking. She was a member of Lakeview Wesleyan Church in Marion and the Tuesday morning ladies Bible study there.
Wilma was a loving, sweet and joyful person and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sharon (Ron) Campbell, Marion, Ind.; two grandchildren, Joel (Megan) Campbell of Fishers, Ind., and Angela (Shane) McGuire of Mexico, Ind.; three great-grandchildren, Catey Campbell and Ryan and Owen McGuire; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
Services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at Kirby Morris Funeral Home 224 W. Ash, El Dorado. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial is in Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado.
