OBITUARY: Bertha A. Cox

Bertha A. Cox, 93, of El Dorado, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at Lake Point Nursing Center. 

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Belle Vista Cemetery.

She was born on April 28, 1916 near Bland, Mo., the daughter of Joseph Walter and Malissa Jane (Branson) Lister. Bertha had lived in El Dorado since 1946 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Four Square Gospel Church; loved to sew, do crossword puzzles and cooking for her family; and enjoyed her family and all her grandchildren. She also loved to go to garage sales.

On Sept. 7, 1937 she was married to Carl Edward Cox, Sr. in El Dorado.  He preceded her in death on September 29, 1994.

Those she leaves are: two sons and their wives, Carl, Jr. and wife Rena Kay of Ramona, Okla., and Jimmy Wayne and Trish of Augusta; two daughters and their spouses, Carolyn Hoy and Dennis, and Clara Harker and Freddie, all of El Dorado; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Memorials in her memory for Good Shepherd Hospice or Family Worship Center Building Fund may be left with Carlson Funeral Home, which is assisting the family with the services.
