LeRoy "Jack" Bevan passed from age-related causes June 22, 2009. His wife, June, preceded him in death Sept. 13, 2007. They were married Oct. 19, 1940.
He was born June 25, 1921 in Weir, Kan. He served in the Navy from 1944-1946 on the U.S.S. Block Island. He and June lived in Towanda for many years before moving to Benton, then Eldorado. Jack retired from Getty Oil in 1982. He was a commander with the VFW in El Dorado. They had many friends in the area. After retiring, they moved to Cheshire, Ore. They bought a VW bug and set out to find every logging road in the county. They also enjoyed camping.
Jack is survived by a son, Jack "Michael" Bevan of Mesquite, Nevada, and two daughters, Judi Lewis of Olympia, Wash., and Eileen Simmons of Cheshire, Ore.
He has three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. His step-grandchildren and their families will also miss their "Grandpa" very much.
