Kermit E. Dirksen, 76, of Marion, passed away suddenly on Feb. 2, 2010, near Florence. He was born on May 9, 1933, in Goessel, the son of Menno and Edna (Epp) Dirksen.
He worked commercial construction all of his life and was currently a construction technician for PKHLS Architecture of El Dorado and Newton. He was married on July 10, 1955 to Frances (Schmidt) Dirksen; she survives at Marion. Other survivors include: his children, Greg (Karen) Dirksen of Hillsboro, Ron (Patsy) Dirksen of Goessel and Linda (Jeff) Shelly of Lenexa; grandchildren, Brittany Dirksen, Sierra Dirksen and Iris Shelly; and siblings, Larry Dirksen of San Diego, Calif., Geneva Bartel of Goessel and Jolene Dirksen of Newton.
A celebration of life reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church-Wesley Room. A memorial fund has been established for Bethesda Home of Goessel in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Marion, KS 66861.
