Charles E. (Chuck) Ward, 77, of El Dorado, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church. Interment will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
He was born Dec. 30, 1931 in Englewood, Kan., the son of James Graves and Edna Ward.
He graduated from High School in Englewood and then served in the U.S. Army. Chuck had worked for 33 years for LaForge’s as their typewriter repair man.
He was a member of First Christian Church, loved camping and belonging to the Good Sam’s Club; fishing, tinkering, especially spending time with his grandkids and being around all little children.
On Nov. 30, 1990, he was married to Maggie Hesse.
He is also survived by: his wife of the home; sons, Wesley Ward and wife Jeanine of Skiatook, Okla., and Michael Ward and wife LaDonna of El Dorado; a daughter, Valerie Pratt of Mannford, Okla.; step-sons, Glen Wilson and wife Angela of El Dorado and Harry Wilson of Lawrence; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Edgelie of Wichita; one brother, Jack Graves of San Diego; sisters, Lois Jackson of Colorado Springs, Louise McCullough of Kingfisher, Okla., Isola Roberts of Meade and June Whisenhunt of Uniontown, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and his first wife, Berdene.
